Christmas
A WINDOW INTO THE MAKING OF CHRISTMAS
Christmas begins at Brown Thomas. This year we invite you to take a flight of fantasy with us to an Out of this World odyssey. To find out more we caught up with our community of creatives on what inspired the making of Christmas 2022.
This year Christmas is all about a renewed sense of discovery, we want to bring you to a world beyond your imagination, a journey among the stars.
Conor Dunbar, Head of Creative, Brown Thomas Arnotts
For the first time ever you can catch Out of this World Christmas theme across all of our stores in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway. The windows open nationwide on Thursday, 20th October.
On inspiration…
Inspiration comes in all forms when creating Christmas at Brown Thomas. Our teams look to art, fashion, culture and film to build a world that will inspire and delight our customers. Out of this World was inspired by many intergalactic things from Georges Méliès iconic 1920s film a Trip to the Moon to the glittering runways of Gucci and the work of Baz Luhrmann, Tim Burton and David Bowie. We want to elevate Christmas every year and we believe this year we have taken a giant leap.
This is Major Tom to Ground Control. I’m stepping through the door. And I’m floating in a most peculiar way. And the stars look very different today.
David Bowie, Space Oddity
The story behind the theme…
”This year our Christmas theme is called Out of this World and it is all about escaping to a magical moon-lit, intergalactic world that’s part sci-fi fantasy part rocket-fuel fashion.” says Conor Dunbar, Head of Creative, Brown Thomas Arnotts. In the windows and in the store you’ll find glittering aliens and robots walking amongst us in the season’s most shimmering looks with a nod to the galaxy of the metaverse appearing on the horizon.
What to look out for in the windows…
Be transfixed by glittering alien mannequins, the BT22 robot and ethereal Christmas moon fairies and bring your own magic to Christmas with magical Wishing Booths in store.
Windows in Miniature
And for little martians we have some gorgeous miniatures for them to discover in the windows, let them explore moon babies and astronauts, bookworms and space pixies all playing about in our Christmas windows.
Christmas is all about looking up and seeing what’s to discover out there in the great unknown.
